Hattie & Charlie's Wedding

Hattie and Charlie wed at Brightling Church on 25th May and then went to Charlie’s family farm where they held their reception in a marquee.

Having photographed weddings where Charlie was a groomsmen I knew that the couples wedding day was going to have a country feel with a focus on a relaxed vibe. At no point did I feel someone wasn’t smiling, laughing with a friend or enjoying the moment, aside from when it came to the moving moment Charlie spoke about his grandparents during his speech, which had everyone in tears.

Hattie and her bridesmaids got ready in a locally Airbnb house that had the ideal space to allow them all to have their hair and makeup together. The couple had booked Jo, my second photographer, to document Charlie so she visited the boys and documented them as they got dressed and them visited the local pub!

The ceremony was your traditional village Church ceremony, with every seat taken and all eyes on the couple! It was lovely to hear the Reverend, Ann-Marie, speak about Charlie so fondly as his family lived a stones throw from the Church. After a few family photographs in the doorway of the Church, and a confetti walkway, all of the guests walked across the road to the Farm, collecting a glass of bubbly on route!

After plenty of drinks and canapes, from the caterer Kendale Catering, the speech began and these were just as expected: being hilarious from Hattie’s Dad, both inappropriate and very moving from Charlie and both daring and humbling from Josh, the best man.

The couple and Charlie’s parents wanted to lay some flowers on his grandparents grave and they kindly let me follow. Watching how the consoled and embraced each other, as a strong family unit, really hit me and I took the photo of them looking onto the graves with tears in my eyes.

At this stage we still hadn’t taken any couple photos, mainly due to how the day had gone and that I knew relaxed shots of everyone enjoying themselves were more important to the couples. Thankfully we were blessed with good weather and took a few couple portraits before working with the amazing views from the farm to take the couples favourite photo of them, this being the first photo in the gallery! The photo was used on their thank you cards, 40 of which are included in my Collection as standard!

The party quickly got under way, with Noble Jacks performing live, and from what I understand a hardcore group kept going until sunrise the following morning! The weather stayed dry into the night and it was great to document everyone outside enjoying the fire pits and views as the sunset.
