Equine Photo Shoots

Relaxed and informal sessions that focus on capturing the character of your horses and the connection you share with them.

Having spent half my life around horses and organised over 140 equine shoots I am well versed in their unique characters and the remarkable way we interact with them.

There is an unspoken bond between a horse a rider and this is the focus of the sessions I offer. Combining ideas and photos that you would like to recreate, I will tell your story, your horses character (both good and bad!) and the way you are when together.

My desire is to create photographs of you and your horse, in your natural environment, that you can treasure forever. I am proud to produce fully framed prints, photo books, canvases, mounted prints and digital copies.

While also offering equine portrait sessions I am proud to say that for two years I was the Official Press Photographer at the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, I was the Event Photographer for the Southdown Hunt East Pony Club for over six years and photograph the National Equine Form yearly.

I am based near Haywards Heath in Sussex and am happy to travel all over the UK.

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your characterful friends!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for the photo shoot?

This greatly depends on the type of photos you would like to have taken. Having booked your photo shoot, I will send you my ‘Preparing for your shoot’ booklet. This gives ideas about preparing your horse, tack, and yourself!

Is my yard suitable for a shoot?

With a bit of imagination and clever posing, most rural locations are suitable for photo shoots providing they are safe and you have permission to take your horse there. Local woodland, a beach, or a country estate give wonderful backdrops for your photos.

Can we recreate other photos I like?

I strongly recommended taking a look at my website portfolio to see what other people have had taken in their sessions. These will give you plenty of ideas of what we could do in your shoot.

I am open to most ideas, so if you have seen other photos you like, please do share these with me before the shoot.

What if my horse misbehaves?

Are you worried you won’t get the photos you would like because your horse gets easily distracted? I have written an article to explain how horses will always be horses and not models, and how I want to work with your horse to get the best possible photos during your shoot.

I am not very confident in front of the camera?

This is not a problem at all. The shoot is purely about the connection you and your horse have and is not a fashion shoot. As such, I like to keep the session informal and relaxed and enjoy capturing you engaging with each other and not looking at the camera too much.

What happens if it is forecast to rain?

Portrait sessions are very weather dependent and I will only go ahead if the forecast is for sunshine or light cloud cover. If the weather turns for the worst on the day of the shoot I am open to postponing the shoot. In this instance you would not be charged for the postponement as I want you to have bright, vibrant photos, that you love.

What happens after the shoot?

I will spend time to edit your photographs and provide you with an online gallery so you can view the photos at your leisure. I am more than happy to visit you so you can see the quality products I offer and we can complete your order face-to-face. You are also welcome to place your order via email or phone.
